![]() The article I just read is titled “5 reasons your portfolio should be online” by George Couros. This article is about people should start making more online portfolios’ other than paper portfolios’ for a list of reasons. One reason being for creating opportunities instead of looking for them. Another reason being for searching and organization. I think my portfolio will benefit me now and in the future for getting a job and for colleges to look at. I feel that you should begin making your portfolio in high school (9th grade) because that is when mostly everything you do matters and it is put towards your future. This step will help you get employed because usually the employee will check to see what you are good at in order for you to get that job. I included my references to my portfolio that would help me with getting a job or applying for college. I wish that the resume was taken from the requirements because I feel that it isn’t very important to my portfolio. I am most proud of my references because I have not only teachers but coaches and students leaders in my references. I found number 5 most beneficial towards my future because I relates to me so much. Number 5 is “continues learning” and that relates to me because I constantly learn in many ways even if it has to with me fixing my mistakes, I am constantly learning. I will use this information to benefit my future by learning as much as I can on the daily, even if it has to do with little things I will just keep learning. I will change how the way I view things in order to learn as much as I can, like looking at different point of view to understand more and including myself in different activities. This article applies to our chapter and/ or workplace because it has to do with portfolios and different ways you can view portfolios’. Enlightened: having or showing a rational, modern, and well-informed outlook. Extraordinary: very unusual or remarkable.

![]() for my 5 picture ideas i would probably take a picture of me reading a book and drinking tea because on weekends those are my 2 favorite things i love to do. for the 2nd picture i would take a picture of me on my phone of on my computer because I'm mostly on my computer or phone 99.9% of the time. the 3rd picture would be me at a friends house. the 4th picture would be me hanging out with my dad at a restaurant because every Tuesday me and my dad go out to eat and hang out and i really look forward to it. the last picture would be me watching TV with my mom and my sister because at the end of the day i always sit and watch TV with my family. ![]() The article I just read titled “Should it be illegal for employers to check job applicants' Facebook profiles?” written by Kashmir Hill was about if employers should check other employees’ social media profiles. I think that they should check employees’ social media profiles. I think that social media profiles should be checked firstly because of safety reasons. I think so second because of business benefits. I think that employers should check employees’ social media profiles for safety reasons. The employers do not know about their employee’s background and I think that they should because you could never know if one of them was a murderer or something that put danger to others lives. I think that employees should be more cautious of who they hire also for business benefits. Some people have excellent background and can achieve more then what the employers put them for. If employees did more background checks than more business’ could be more successful than what they are now. I could relate to this sort of because when I have group projects I have to be cautious of who I chose. I couldn’t just choose someone because they were my friend; I had to choose someone based on how they worked in groups and how smart they were. One word that relates to this article is caution which means care taken to avoid danger or mistakes. Another word that relates to this article is success which means the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. ![]() One thing that I can reflect on from reading 10 Things I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Went Into the Real World by Chris Widener is You need to tend to your spiritual, emotional, and physical health or you will crash hard. This statement is very important on how to live your life the way you want it. You may want to help others and there is nothing wrong with that, but when the time comes you need to take time off to yourself to get your thoughts together and take care of yourself. You need to have some type of religion in your life. You must be emotionally stable when hard times come or else you will not make it through the day. You need to have a good physical health so that you could live longer and do the things you want to do. All these things apply to everyday life and you must succeed them all. Push your limits and do what you want to do as long as you’re happy. I can relate to this because these are the rules to happiness. As long as you have these 3 things in your life there no doubt that you won’t be happy. This relates to me because a while back my emotional stability wasn’t the best. I was severely depressed and it almost ruined my life. I started to go to church and think better of myself. Telling myself not to give up at it will get better. Eventually it did and I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. 2 words that connect to this is Bliss and vainglory. Bliss: supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment: wedded bliss. Vainglory: excessive elation or pride over one's own achievements, abilities, etc.; boastful vanity. ![]() The article I read was written by Christie Silvers. This article was about reasons why teens should have an after school job. I do think that students in high school should have jobs because it teaches them responsibility and how to earn things on their own for future references. One law that I do agree with is the age requirement to get a job. The age requirement is 14 of age and older. Some teens 14 or older do want a job. Having a job as a teen can help with handling situations in the real world. I can relate to this because my family always had a job since they were 15 years of age and they always tell me life lessons on how having a job can help you in the real world and can give you great responsibility. A couple of words that can relate to this article are Responsibility which means the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone, and self reliance which means reliance on one's own powers and resources rather than those of others. ![]() The Farmers Donkey is about a donkey that has fallen in a well and cannot get out. The framer sees no hope for the donkey and decides to fill up the well with dirt to prevent any other accidents. The donkey notices what the farmer is doing and cries. The farmer is then shocked to not only hear the donkey stop crying but also see the donkey shaking of the dirt and stepping on it. As the farmer throws more dirt into the well the donkey continues to shake off the dirt and step on it until he makes it to the top. When the donkey made it to the top, the donkey stepped up over the edge and trotted off happily. My personal opinion is that the farmer is life and the donkey is you as a person. Life will always try to get you down weather it’s at work, school or even at home, but all you have to do is shake all the negativity off and keep on going. I very much agree with this story’s connection with life itself because it is very true when it connects to my life and the challenges life throws at you. I have had friends that have made my life fairly hard in the past by calling me names and being very rude and disrespectful to me, and now they are no longer my friends. I will use this info to benefit me in the future by walking away or dealing with issues in my life appropriately and reasonably to get through that complex situation. I will change my way of dealing with things when I come to a “bump in the road” by either seeing through that person’s POV or dealing with the decision hands on. This chapter applies to our chapter or workplace because everyone goes through hard times and it’s their choice whether they want to give up or keep trying. Persistence: the property of a continuous and connected period of time/ determination Positivity: a quality or state characterized by certainty or acceptance or affirmation |
